Atlee Kumar,Atlee, AKA Arun Kumar(born 21 September 1986) is an Indian film director and writer of the Tamil film industry. A former assistant to director Shankar, he started directing films with Raja Rani (2013) produced by AR Murugadoss and Fox Star Studios.[1] The film, starring Arya, Nayantara, Jai, Santhanam and Nazriya Nazim was a critical and commercial success paving way for his next film also to be produced by AR Murugadoss.[2]

He did his Visual Communications from Sathyabama University. He worked with Director Shankar for 5 years, acting as the associate director for massive, landmark films such as Enthiren (Robot) and Nanban. While already in the limelight for his remarkable work with Director Shankar at such a young age, Atlee further shot into limelight with his short films En male vizhuntha mazhai thuzhiye, Muggaputhagam (Facebook). Atlee has already worked with the best of Tamil Film Industry veterans in his debut movie.

Praised for his vision, insight and sense of pulse story timing, Atlee is a big fan of Directors Shankar, Mani Ratnam and Gautham Menon and of course, Superstar Rajnikanth. It was watching Rajnikanth’s films that inspired Atlee, right from his boyhood days, to take up film-making.
